Delphinium, the Latin name: Consolida ajacis (L.) Schur, is a perennial herb of the Dicotyledon, Ranunculus, Ranunculaceae, and Delphinium genus. Because of its unique flower shape, it resembles a swallow, hence its name. The flower diameter is about 4 cm, elegant in shape and attractive; 35 to 65 cm high, the stem is sparsely branched, and the leaves are palmately split. The raceme has 3-15 flowers, petal-like, blue or purple-blue, 1.5-1.8 cm long. Delphinium is a taproot plant with few fibrous roots. It is suitable for direct seeding and transplantation with soil mass.

Growth habit

It grows on hillsides, grasslands, and fixed dunes. Delphinium has strong adaptability to the climate, and it is more suitable for a humid and cool climate environment. The optimum temperature for seed germination is 15°C, the optimum temperature during the growth period is 20-25°C during the day and 3-15°C at night.

It is light-loving and can tolerate a little shade. The growth period can be in half shade, and sufficient sunlight is required during the flowering period. Prefers fertile, moist, and well-drained acid soil, also can tolerate drought and a little water temperature, the pH value is 5.5 ~ 6.0.
